High Tech High Students Build Prototype Tiny House for Artists

Over the last six months, 54 ninth graders from High Tech High Chula Vista have worked to design and build a prototype live/work dwelling for San Diego artists. h0u51n6-pr0j

The home is being built for Space 4 Art, a nonprofit with the mission of building permanent, affordable housing for artists in San Diego.

The project centers around the idea that art is vital to communities, yet rent is often too high for artists to continue to live and produce in them. One solution is building smaller homes, often only a few hundred square feet, an idea that has gained traction nationally.
